Good point Todd. Restoration can return gained negative levels IF THE SPELL IS CAST WITHIN AS MANY DAYS AS THE CHARACTER HAS LEVELS. Not as bad as dying, but it taint good neither.

So, if we get our XP now...and I level up...and Restoration is a 4th level spell...and Torm is gracious...we just may have a shot.

Bless wouldn't work for that. Is there a different spell, a better spell, that would increase your chance to save?

I suspect that the appropriate cleric is many leagues away...back to Waterdeep.

This spell functions like lesser restoration, except that it also dispels negative levels and restores one experience level to a creature who has had a level drained. The drained level is restored only if the time since the creature lost the level is equal to or less than one day per caster level. A character who has a level restored by restoration has exactly the minimum number of experience points necessary to restore him or her to his or her previous level.

If we can do a Restoration spell within the 24-hours, it will dispel all negative levels. If we wait until after the 24-hours, Restoration can restore 1 level per spell within the number of days equal to the caster level...in my case it would be 7th.
